
In 2008 Probio Nutraceuticals AS, Norway, Medipharmia OY, Finland and Gelkaps GmbH, Germany merged to build Ayanda. More than 250 talented and dedicated colleagues joined efforts in a new business unit manufacturing food supplements, pharmaceutical tablets, powders, and soft gelatin capsules at four modern plants in Norway, Finland and Germany.

In going forward to establish their business Ayanda is dedicated and committed to making sure that Ayanda as an organization is working towards one goal, one clear strategy and in one clear direction. They are undertaking a strong effort to establish better communication and interaction in Ayanda, with improved reporting and overview of the performance out to the members of the organization.
After starting the integration of the German, Finnish and Norwegian operations in 2008, Ayanda quickly realized that it was impossible to harmonize and coordinate the company as one functional organization without common systems and business procedures. The integration process became impossible without a new ERP-system, as there were roughly 32 different systems in the merged company. For being manageable as one unit they decided on implementing a common system platform.
In the scope of this Ayanda wanted on the one hand to access the industry and process know-how of an experienced system partner, and on the other, use the special possibilities of an integrated validated system for the pharmaceuticals sector in order to achieve a long term improvement to the efficiency and effectiveness of the complete processes.
The new ERP system is also designed support the commercial processes of Ayanda effectively including the international level through an integrated holistic solution. The user requirements and international business processes must be fulfilled through an integrated ERP system. The inspection-secure documentation of the system and the GMP critical processes should also be guaranteed, too.
With these targets and requirements in mind Ayanda selected YAVEON as their preferred ERP partner. The standard industry solution YAVEON ProBatch on the base of Microsoft Dynamics NAV was seen to fulfill international financial processes, to be implemented in a validated environment and to support local legal parameters.
To implement the new ERP system was nevertheless a great effort. Over 44.000 pages of documents has been created and maintained in installing the pharmaceutically (cGMP) validated ERP system. Different processes in Norway, Germany and Finland needed to be supported. But in October 2010 there were the final "go live" in all departments. "The launch of the ERP systems was a tremendous milestone for the integration process and the development of Ayanda, which we had to undergo since August 2008 and up till today", says Stein Ulve, General Manger at Ayanda.
Now Ayanda has got transparency and optimization of the processes over the complete international supply chain for manufacturing and distribution. This results in reduction of process and operating costs. Processes which were lacking have been defined through the implementation phase. In addition the management can use modern analysis instruments to keep business performance on track. The system provides validation conformity in spite of flexibility.
